A light for others

It is a deep joy to give to others, to be there for them, to be a light for those we love when they need it most.

And likewise, it is a blessing to receive all the love we are able to take in and hold within our hearts. Life may not be much more than this — and yet, it never truly ends.

For me, it can feel almost shameful to believe that I might be a light for someone else. Just the thought that I have something to offer others can make me feel as if I’m thinking too highly of myself — as if it’s wrong or arrogant.

But light shines equally for everyone. It simply fulfills its nature and its role — not to draw attention to itself or to stand out — but because that is what light does. And when there is darkness, light illuminates it. Not because it’s better or more important, but because it’s simply in its nature.

I’ve been taught to allow my light to shine for everyone — and that is what I intend to do. Because the world needs it. Because it’s a part of who I am. Because it benefits me too. And because it’s what we are all, deep down, searching for.

It takes courage, without a doubt. The courage to speak even when fear rises in the body, the heart, and the mind. That is something I am learning. And not all words are received well — not everything is meant to be said to everyone. Sometimes, words can do more harm than good.

But what is a light that shines?

Maybe it's simply a heartfelt greeting, a hug, or appreciation for the people we’re with.

Maybe it's the willingness to open up and share a little of ourselves — our vulnerability — with someone else.

Maybe it’s a small gift offered to those who have given so much to us.

The greatest light may be the one who, quietly and without needing recognition, has made their inner home clean — and whose presence subtly brings that clarity and calm to everything and everyone around them.
